Must-Read Notes
1. Adjust tolerances according to the printer model.
2. If you want to burn incense, try to avoid using PLA filament and instead use ABS; PLA can catch fire (the author’s dorm room nearly went up in flames).
3. If you only have PLA but still want to achieve the “reverse-flow” incense effect, follow these steps: 1. Ensure good ventilation; 2. Use a metal spacer; 3. Burn the reverse-flow incense outside the incense burner until the reverse flow becomes clearly visible, then place it inside the structure (this step minimizes heat exposure); 4. While enjoying the effect, use your hand to check the temperature—if the roof feels even slightly hot, remove it immediately to dissipate the heat (otherwise the material will melt and collapse); 5. When about one-third of the incense has burned away (try not to let the base turn black), quickly take it out to prevent the bottom filament from deforming due to overheating.

—The “Nonsense Section”—
This is one of the most satisfying models the author has ever created. The overall design draws inspiration from Nanzen-ji Temple and the murals in Cave 12 at Mogao Caves (the open front porch was inspired by Foguang Temple). For coloring, if you’re feeling lazy, simply paint the ridge beams green, the eave brackets white, and add some glazed tiles—done! If you’re more artistically inclined, you can further paint the dougong brackets green, with seven shades of red and eight of white. But when playing with reverse-flow incense, be very careful—oh dear, oh dear! The author overdid it: the intense heat from three sticks of incense couldn’t dissipate, melting the arched wall surfaces, causing the roof to expand, and making the entire wall contract. A moment of silence for the loss. (By the way, this piece makes a nice little decorative item too.) As for the glazed tiles, they’re optional—but if you add them, the effect is really impressive. Assembly instructions will be posted later.
