Qube 540 Under-Desk Mounting Hooks
 

These hooks are designed to securely mount a Cooler Master Qube 540 PC case to the underside of a wooden desk, creating a clean, space-efficient workstation with no cables running to the floor. This solution is ideal for standing desks, compact workspaces, or anyone looking to free up valuable desk and floor space while keeping their PC easily accessible.
 

The hooks are designed to support the case while allowing quick installation and removal whenever needed.

Print Orientation

The brackets should be printed exactly as shown in the reference image, standing vertically with the long mounting face perpendicular to the build plate.

Although this orientation may appear unconventional, it ensures that the internal layer lines follow the primary load paths when supporting the mounted PC case. Since FDM printed parts are strongest along the printed filament and weakest between layers, this orientation significantly improves resistance to bending and layer separation under load.

Printing the hooks in this orientation provides:

• Maximum structural strength
• Improved resistance to delamination
• Accurate mounting holes
• Reliable long-term durability

Installation

The mounting holes are designed as M6 clearance holes, allowing the screws to pass freely through the printed hooks without threading into the plastic. This ensures the screws clamp the hooks securely against the desk, with all holding force transferred directly into the wood.

Installation Steps

1. Position the hooks on the underside of the desk and verify the spacing before drilling.
2. Mark the mounting hole locations through the hooks.
3. Drill pilot holes using a 2.5–3 mm wood drill bit.
4. Secure the hooks using M6 pan head wood screws. A screw length of 35–45 mm is recommended for most solid wood or MDF desks, depending on desk thickness.
5. Tighten the screws until the hooks sit firmly against the desk without over-tightening.
6. Carefully place the Qube 540 into the installed hooks and verify that the case is fully supported before use.

Recommended Hardware

For wooden desk installations, M6 Pan Head Wood Screws are highly recommended. Their broad, flat underside distributes the clamping force evenly across the printed hook while providing excellent holding strength in wood. Unlike countersunk screws, pan head screws require no chamfer, offer a cleaner appearance, and reduce stress concentrations in the printed part.

Important Notice

This model is intended for mounting to solid wood or MDF desks only. If your desk has a hollow-core construction, appropriate hollow-wall or toggle fasteners must be used instead.

As with any load-bearing 3D printed component, the final strength depends on print quality, material selection, printer calibration, and print settings. Always inspect your printed parts before installation and verify that the mounted system is secure before placing your PC into the hooks.
