Forged from black plastic and wrapped in flowing Norse/Celtic knotwork, this German Mastiff — known in English as the German Mastiff or Great Dane — wall relief transforms a gentle giant into a mythic guardian.

 

Unlike a classic mounted trophy with a surrounding medallion, this piece is frameless: the knotwork grows directly across the skin of the head itself, with small hidden animal motifs woven into the pattern around the ears. The face stays smooth and lifelike, letting the ornamentation do all the talking.

 

Print Settings

  • Layer height: 0.16mm
  • Orientation: printed lying down
  • Supports: minimal — only needed around the ears and nose area (tree supports recommended)

About the Model & Painting
This piece already looks stunning in raw black — but with a dry-brush finish it transforms into a true centerpiece artifact. This one was finished in three layers: a bronze base coat across the whole relief, a light copper pass over the top for a warm reddish glow, and a final gold dry-brush picked out specifically along the Celtic knotwork lines to make the pattern pop. A small dot of gold in each eye finishes the look.
