This is a custom 3D-printed bicycle mounting bracket designed specifically for the Xiaomi Mijia Dash Cam 1S, a highly popular low-cost DIY solution in the cycling community that effectively addresses the key pain point of converting a car-mounted dash cam into a bike-mounted one.
Core Design and Structural Breakdown of the Mount
Main Structure
Material: Primarily PETG or PLA 3D printing (PETG offers better impact resistance and thermal stability, making it ideal for outdoor cycling; PLA is more cost-effective and easier to print). The finish is a matte black with sufficient strength to withstand the bumps and vibrations of cycling.
Structural Layers:
Upper Mounting Base: Secured directly to the bicycle handlebar or stem using two screws with knurled knobs (the black flower-shaped knobs shown in the diagram), allowing for easy installation and removal as well as quick angle adjustment.
Middle Camera Compartment: Perfectly matches the dimensions of the Xiaomi 1S body; once the camera is inserted, it is secured with screws for a snug, stable fit without any wobbling. The design also includes dedicated openings for the DC IN power port, buttons, and card slot, ensuring full functionality is maintained.
Lower Lens Cover: Fastened with four screws, providing precise cutouts for the lens to protect it while maintaining an unobstructed field of view. The cover features a frosted texture to minimize glare.
Installation Steps
Assemble the Mount: Insert the Xiaomi 1S camera into the middle compartment, secure the lower lens cover with screws, and lock the entire assembly in place.
Attach to the Handlebar: Clip the upper mount onto the handlebar and tighten the two flower-shaped knobs to ensure the camera is properly aligned and facing forward.
Connect Power: Plug the Micro USB cable into the camera’s DC IN port, route the cable along the frame, and connect the other end to a portable power bank housed in the handlebar bag or frame bag (a 5V/2A power bank is sufficient; a 10,000mAh unit can provide 6–8 hours of continuous recording).
