Native American Tipis (also known as Teepees, with other variations such as Wigwams)
English equivalents: Tipi (Teepee) (a conical tent used by Plains Indians) and Wigwam (a semi-permanent domed shelter typical of woodland regions).
These were traditional dwellings of North America’s Indigenous peoples. The Tipi was the iconic conical tent of the nomadic Plains tribes—such as the Lakota, Cheyenne, and Comanche—designed to accommodate their mobile lifestyle as they followed bison herds. In contrast, the Wigwam was primarily a semi-permanent domed structure used by Eastern woodland tribes, with distinct differences in both design and function compared to the Tipi.
