Image and Cultural Context
The prototype is the “stone lion” from traditional Chinese architecture—also known as the “house‑guarding lion”—which faithfully captures the iconic features of the classic stone lion: its swirling mane, ornate sash, and crouching posture atop a pedestal. The stone lion is one of the quintessential symbols of Chinese cultural heritage.
In traditional culture, stone lions are often regarded as guardians and protective talismans, commonly positioned on either side of ancient architectural entrances. Today, they are frequently employed as culturally significant decorative elements.
