We recently started raising chicks at home, but the water dispenser we bought was far too large—no matter how careful we were, the chicks kept wandering right into it, soaking everything in water. So I decided to design my own solution.

To address this issue, I narrowed the water reservoir of the dispenser, effectively preventing the chicks from stepping inside and contaminating the water or splashing water everywhere. After several iterations, I arrived at the final design you see today.

In actual use, the chicks are able to drink water without issue—and even when the coop gets a bit crowded, they no longer accidentally step into the water reservoir. What’s more, we haven’t seen any instances of chicks tipping over and falling into the water anymore.

To ensure compatibility with A1mini printers, I designed the dispenser to fit within the mini’s print bed dimensions. As for the threaded connectors, I’ve created two different designs based on commonly used bottle caps. To help users easily identify the correct connector, I’ve also included a set of threaded adapter blocks (6g). Once you receive them, simply match your bottle to the corresponding adapter—any bottle that screws on smoothly is ready for use.
