What is the Doomsday Clock?
The Doomsday Clock represents the likelihood of a human-made global catastrophe. The catastrophe will happen when it hits midnight. It was created by J. Robert Oppenheimer (father of the atomic bomb) in 1947. The clock is maintained and updated by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. In January 2023, the clock was moved forward to 90 seconds before midnight due to rising global conflicts. The clock has been moved forward 17 times and has never been closer to midnight than today.
Why I made this?
I can't turn back the official doomsday clock, and I often feel like I can't do anything about global conflicts. I just have to watch it go on and on and on… just like time, but the truth is that I can do something! I may not be a world leader or powerful individual, but I can affect the people around me and my small part of the world. By trying to be the change I want to see every day, I will make a better world, and maybe one day be part of the reason the doomsday clock turns back for the first time in 14 years.
It was important to me that the clock hand was movable. It helps me remember daily that I can stop the clock and return the world to a better time.
Clock Text
I have uploaded 4 text variants you can choose between.
- “It is 90 seconds before midnight”
- “It is ? seconds before midnight”
- “It is seconds before midnight”
- “It is _ seconds before midnight”

Clock Hand
When inserting the hand for the first time, you have to press it with some force while rotating it until it finds a threading insert. After the first time, it should be easy to move around and do it again.

If you can't get the hand to fit, I have also made a version with a higher tolerance that you can try. You can print the “Tolerance Test” that has both versions and a small cutout of the clock with the screw hole. It is a quick and cheap way to see which version works best for you.

Colors
The models only use two colors and change color at 3.20mm. If you are using a 0.20 mm layer height, that is on layer 16.
