I made this in order to fix a broken Thinkpad 390E hinge. It's based from this pdf https://www.esocop.org/docs/IBM_Thinkpad_390_hinges_reinforcement.pdf and contains the following:
- hinge_support.stl/scad contains the support which goes through the hole which mounts the metal hinges. It should be printed horizontal for greater strength (the pillars are the support and have to be removed)
- hinge_cover_full.stl contains the hinge support for the one on the right
- hinge_cover_cut.stl is the same as the other but with shorter lip. This is because the left one didn't fit right for me
- hinge_conver_thinkpad390e.FCStd the design files for the hinge cover
In order to install the support, a M2x20 (more or less) is needed. It's the same screw that goes there but a bit longer because it has to grab both the support and the case.
In order to print the cover, the model is done mimicking the right one so the left one should be mirrored around the Y axis.
I know this is a bit poor so any questions are welcome!
TODO
- The model is missing some clips to hold the metal hinge. It still works fine so I didn't put the effort in doing that
- A better and complete post with pictures. Someday I'll write a blog post and link it here. Meanwhile here are the files
