The Stork Tower: A Symbol of “Leaping Over the Dragon Gate”
This structure masterfully encapsulates the auspicious symbolism of “leaping over the dragon gate” within a compact, yet profoundly evocative design—blending the architectural elegance of traditional Chinese pavilions with timeless poetic imagery. While it does not strive for an exact replica of the original, its meticulously crafted form and dynamic, graceful proportions bring to life the layered, ethereal ambiance often depicted in classical poetry and painting.
- Layered Eaves in Flight: Each of the three stories is crowned with a hipped roof, where the eaves curve upward like outstretched wings, gently arching and unfolding with fluid, supple lines that seem poised to take flight toward the heavens.
- The Essence of the Dragon Gate: The central axis of the ground floor features a arched doorway, flanked by subtly rendered dragon motifs—perfectly echoing the ancient legend of fish transforming into dragons, symbolizing a symbolic “dragon gate” that opens wide to the boundless sky.
- Divine Beasts Adorn the Ridge: Tiny decorative motifs of auspicious beasts grace both the main ridge and the hip ridges of the roof; though mere models, these intricate details imbue the structure with an air of solemn dignity and spiritual resonance.
