Moonlit Rose Picture Frame

Moonlit Rose is an original decorative picture frame inspired by moonlit gardens, curling thorny vines, and gothic ornamentation. A crescent moon crowns the frame while three sculpted roses and intertwining vines surround the photograph opening.

I wanted the frame to feel like a complete sculptural object rather than a plain frame with decorations added afterward. The moon, roses, vines, thorns, geometric accents, frame body, and rear display stand were designed as one cohesive piece.

Printing

The model was developed primarily for resin printing because of its thin vines, layered roses, thorns, and small ornamental details. Careful support placement is recommended around the roses, crescent moon, vine tips, and rear surfaces.

The submitted 3MF does not include supports, allowing makers to choose the orientation and support settings best suited to their own printer and resin. I printed the design successfully on an ELEGOO Saturn 4 Ultra.

After printing, wash and cure the model according to the instructions for your chosen resin.

Support Removal

Fine-point tweezers are strongly recommended for removing supports from narrow or difficult-to-reach areas, especially along the back of the frame. Tweezers make it much easier to grip small support fragments without placing unnecessary pressure on the thin vines, thorns, roses, or surrounding details.

Work slowly around delicate features. Flush cutters can be used for larger supports, while tweezers are especially useful for the smaller supports and remaining fragments.

Finishing

The frame can be displayed in its natural resin color or painted to create a customized finish. Possible color schemes include black and silver, moonlit blue, antique bronze, or red roses with pale moon accents.

The photographs show the design printed in turquoise resin for maximum detail visibility, as well as a black-resin version with a photograph installed to demonstrate the finished frame in use.
