The Helix Glow: Modular LED Ambient Lamp

Elevate your space with the Helix Glow, a parametric desk lamp designed to blend organic movement with modern geometry. Featuring a series of sweeping, interlocking fins, this lamp is engineered to catch and diffuse light, creating a captivating atmosphere whether it’s sitting on your nightstand or brightening a workspace.

This model is versatile and designed to accommodate two popular low-heat lighting options:

1. USB LED Puck Light: For a consistent, directional glow.
2. LED Fairy Lights: For a softer, twinkling "glimmer" effect throughout the fins.

⚠️ Critical Material Note: PETG Required

Even with low-voltage LEDs, the semi-enclosed "chimney" structure can trap warmth.

• Avoid PLA: PLA has a low heat deflection point and may warp or sag over time with even minor heat build-up.
• Use PETG or ASA: To ensure your lamp maintains its crisp geometric lines for years, please print this in PETG or a similar high-temperature filament.

Recommended Print Settings

• Filament: PETG (Transparent, Translucent, or White recommended for best diffusion)
• Layer Height: 0.2mm (or 0.16mm for extra smooth curves)
• Walls: 1–2 perimeters
• Infill: 10% Gyroid or Lightning
• Supports: None. This design is 100% support-free!
• Brim: A 5mm brim is recommended to ensure the thin fin profiles stay anchored to the bed during the print.
• Can be reduced to 70% scale with the 60mm puck light

Assembly & Hardware

• Light Source: Standard 60mm USB LED Puck or a strand of battery/USB LED fairy lights.
• Setup: Simply feed your power cable through the integrated notch in the base. If using fairy lights, loosely coil them upward into the center cavity for the best light distribution.

Tested & Optimized: This model has been rigorously tested for tolerances and printability. For the best results, ensure your PETG is dry to minimize stringing between the decorative fins.
