Keyhole Screw Mount – Boolean Cutter / Negative Insert

This model is a boolean cutter designed to create a keyhole-style screw mounting slot in any 3D model using a Boolean Difference operation.

The shape combines a circular screw-head pocket with a narrow vertical channel, allowing objects to slide down onto a wall-mounted screw and lock into place under gravity. Once subtracted, the resulting cavity lets the printed part hang securely while remaining removable.

This is not a physical part—it is intended to be used as a negative volume and subtracted from another model.

✦ Design Details

  • Circular upper cavity sized to accept a screw head
  • Tapered vertical slot allows the screw shaft to slide and seat
  • Flat rear profile for clean subtraction against flat or curved surfaces
  • Smooth transitions to avoid stress risers in the final printed part

✦ Intended Use

  1. Import this STL into your CAD or modeling software
  2. Position it where you want the mounting point
  3. Perform a Boolean Difference / Subtract operation
  4. Print the resulting model and hang it on a wall-mounted screw

Works well for:

  • Wall-mounted prints
  • Tool holders
  • Displays and decor
  • Lightweight functional parts

✦ Printing & Scaling Notes

  • Scale uniformly to fit different screw sizes
  • Works cleanly in Blender, Fusion 360, Onshape, OpenSCAD, and slicer-based negatives
  • Recommended to leave sufficient wall thickness around the cutout for strength

✦ Terminology

Also commonly referred to as:

  • Keyhole Mount Cutter
  • Screw Slot Negative
  • Wall Mount Feature Insert
  • Boolean Keyhole Cutout
