Maxima is a virtual character from SNK’s fighting game series The King of Fighters, voiced in Japanese by Katsuyuki Konishi. She appears in multiple titles, ranging from The King of Fighters '99 to The King of Fighters XV. Originally a Canadian military officer, she infiltrated NESTS under an assumed identity after her comrades were killed by the organization, becoming a semi-mechanized cyborg as part of Project M. Her body is 80% mechanical and equipped with a combat-analysis system, weighing 219 kilograms [5] [7–8]. Starting in 1999, she defected to K’ and subsequently defeated K’, Kulitzarid, Zero, and Igniz, ultimately destroying NESTS [5] [11].

Maxima has a rugged appearance but a calm and composed personality. She serves as K’’s guardian and partner, using hacking skills to secure funding for their team. She has a fondness for sweets and never drinks alcohol [5] [7]. In battle, she employs M-style martial arts combined with her internal weapon systems—such as steam cannons and lasers—and her armor can withstand continuous rifle fire. Some of her moves are inspired by Clark’s throwing techniques [7] [9].

Her motivation for defecting was to expose NESTS’ crimes, and during her time working alongside K’, she repeatedly saved his life [5] [7]. After the organization’s downfall, she wandered with K’, Kula, and others, eventually forming a new team with Whip in The King of Fighters XV to continue fighting the remaining forces.
