After testing several mainstream fans available on the market, we found that the noise levels were simply unbearable—far louder than the printer itself! The volume often exceeded even the printer’s operational noise.

The only fan that offered relatively low noise was a Japanese model priced at over 100 RMB—but we felt it wasn’t worth the cost. That’s why we decided to build our own fan.

Components (estimated total procurement cost: around 25 RMB)

We opted for the Delta 9225 fan, which delivers a moderate airflow yet feels more than sufficient for our needs. It’s virtually silent!!! Absolutely delighted with the results! Be sure to request a 1m USB cable when placing your order with the seller.

Assembly

Insert the fan into its designated slot, ensuring the wiring is properly routed through the cable channels. Secure it with four screws—just be careful not to overtighten them.

Position the entire assembly atop the filter cartridge, routing the wires upward and centering them as much as possible so they fit neatly into the original top cover’s mounting slots. The remaining wires can still be routed from the bottom and connected to the USB switch extension cable.

Attach the original top cover, taking care to align the cable routing positions correctly—simply place the fan cover over the assembly and secure it in place.

When powered on, the fan operates almost silently; you might even forget it’s running unless you pay close attention. We recommend pairing it with a smart power strip for convenient control.
