The Potala Palace in Tibet, along with Jokhang Temple, stands atop a red hill at an elevation of 3,700 meters in the heart of the Lhasa River Valley. As a comprehensive complex integrating administrative, religious, and political functions, it comprises the White Palace, the Red Palace, and their associated structures. Since the 7th century AD, the Potala Palace has served as the winter residence of the Dalai Lama, symbolizing both the center of Tibetan Buddhism and the seat of successive administrative governments.
