The ZYYX 3D Printer comes equipped with an exhaust fan and an active carbon filter. For working with benign materials like PLA, especially in a large room, this is probably sufficient. However, I anticipate working with other less benign materials in the near future. This exhaust duct system was designed to port the exhaust outdoors as my printer is in my home office.
For this installation, I needed only a 2 foot length of aluminum ducting because the window is close to the printer. It is Deflecto Aluminum Duct with Connectors, Semi-Rigid, Flexible, 4” x 2ʼ. On Amazon, it costs about $5 as an Add-on item. The duct is a snug fit on both ends but tape (such as electricianʼs tape) makes up for out-of-roundness in the aluminum duct. A window filler had to be custom-made to fit my sliding glass window. Holes were cut in it for the exhaust port and for the four screws.
The black four-inch-flange has a bolt-pattern that matches the exhaust fan assembly on the ZYYX. The original four screws holding the fan in place were removed and replaced with longer screws to accommodate the flange.
