Universal Microscope Ring Light to C-Mount Barlow Lens Adapter (>60mm ID)

 

I made this adapter to mount basically any microscope LED ring light with an inner diameter of 60mm or more (like the MaAnt MY-038) directly onto a standard C-mount Barlow lens.

 

If you have ever tried clamping a bare light onto a lens, you probably noticed the metal tightening screws dig right into the lens shell and scratch it up. Plus, if you crank those screws down too hard to get a good grip, it is super easy to rip the threaded inserts right out of the light housing.

This clamp adapter solves both problems by giving the light something solid to grab onto while wrapping the lens safely in plastic. The best part is that it is universal. The adapter does not have specific screw holes for the light to mount into. Instead, it features a wide bottom ridge. You just tighten the light's screws slightly and let them rest right on that ridge. Because of this design, it absolutely does not matter how many mounting screws your specific light has or where they are located.

 

The easiest way to install it is to wedge a finger into the clamp slit to expand it a bit, and then just drop the lens right in from the top.

Hardware Needed

  • 1x M3 12mm screw (grab a 16mm one if you want to be totally safe)
  • 1x M3 hex nut

Print Settings

 

I printed this in PETG so the adapter has enough flex to clamp down securely. It only takes about 11g of filament.
