Modular Slide-and-Snap Mount System (+ Headlamp Adapter)

This is a universal, 3D-printable modular mounting ecosystem based on a secure slide-and-snap mechanism. I designed this in Fusion 360 to create a reliable and versatile way to attach various gear, tools, and accessories to clothing, belts, webbing, or backpacks.

The core system includes several variations (as seen in the CAD renders):

  1. Receiver Bases (Orange parts in CAD):
    • Sew-on Base: Features pre-modeled holes along the perimeter to be sewn directly onto clothing or backpacks.
    • Strap/Webbing Bases: Versions with single or double side loops, perfect for threading through belts, backpack straps, or MOLLE webbing.

  2. Insert Connectors (Blue parts in CAD):
    • Blank Connectors: The base shape, ready to be merged with your own 3D models.
    • Sew-on/Rivet Plates: Specialized inserts with holes to attach custom pouches or fabric gear to the male connector.
    • Strap Loops: For attaching paracord or thin webbing.

Included in this project: The Universal Headlamp Adapter

To demonstrate the system's capabilities, I’ve included a custom adapter for the extremely popular OEM "Mono-block" motion-sensor headlamps (sold under brands like Videx, Boruit, Foxelli, etc.).

Tired of standard elastic headbands? With this adapter, you can instantly snap your headlamp onto your chest rig, backpack strap, belt, or cap visor. Design feature: The adapter cleverly attaches to the headlamp's original strap loops, meaning you keep the original tilt-adjustment functionality!

🛠 For Makers: Build Your Own Adapters! (STEP files included)

The true power of this project is modularity. I have included the .STEP files for the blank connectors and bases. I invite the community to remix and create their own adapters! Want to attach an action camera, a knife sheath, a radio, or a water bottle? Download the STEP file, merge it with your design, and snap it into the base!

🖨 Recommended Print Settings:

  • Material: PETG, ABS, ASA, or Nylon. (PLA is NOT recommended for the receiver bases, as the locking arms require flexibility and PLA will eventually snap under stress).
  • Layer Height: 0.2mm
  • Perimeters (Walls): 3-5 (for structural strength)
  • Infill: 20% - 100% (Gyroid)
  • Orientation & Supports: The parts are designed to print flat on the build plate with minimal supports. (A textured PEI sheet gives a nice finish to the flat surfaces!).

Happy printing and please share your remixes!
