My “Wisdom” series—The Two-Horned Hornbill
The inspiration for this model comes from a star species among birdwatchers: the two-horned hornbill. In China, it is found in the Dehong region of Yunnan Province. With its enormous size, when it takes flight, the powerful wingbeats generate an air current as impressive as that of an airplane.
In designing this model, I softened its facial features to make it more endearing and omitted intricate feather details to give it a gentler, more approachable appearance.
At the same time, I simplified many of its fine details to optimize the model for FDM printing.
Standing about 8 cm tall, this piece makes an ideal decorative accent for the home or office. On days when you’re feeling down, simply gazing at its wise, contemplative expression can melt away all your worries.
Printing this model requires ABS filament and support structures.
