3D Printed Product Introduction: Traditional Chinese–Style Openwork Antique Display Shelf
I. Creative Inspiration
This antique display shelf draws its design inspiration from the classic Chinese “Haitang Pattern,” seamlessly blending it with modern, openwork structural elements. Built upon the time‑honored Haitang‑shaped frame commonly seen in traditional Chinese artifacts, the shelf features geometrically divided storage compartments that not only preserve the functional essence of a traditional Chinese antique display—perfect for showcasing elegant objects—but also leverage 3D printing’s intricate hollow‑out techniques to simplify the complex mortise‑and‑tenon joinery of conventional woodworking. This approach makes the aesthetic appeal of Chinese design far more accessible and achievable.
II. Printing Requirements
1. Material Selection: PLA is recommended for its excellent printability and ability to render crisp, detailed openwork patterns; for applications requiring greater strength, PETG is an excellent alternative.
2. Print Settings:
- Layer Height: 0.2 mm—striking a balance between fine detail and printing speed;
- Infill Density: 25%–30%—providing sufficient support to maintain the structural integrity of the openwork design;
- Print Temperature: Set the nozzle temperature to 200°C for PLA and 60°C for the heated bed; for PETG, set the nozzle temperature to 230°C and the heated bed to 70°C;
- Supports: Enable localized supports (opt for tree‑like supports, strategically placing them only in overhanging areas to prevent print collapse);
- Wall Thickness: 3 layers (approximately 1.8 mm) to ensure robust frame strength.
3. Post‑Processing: After printing, carefully remove residual supports using tweezers, then gently sand the edges of the storage compartments with fine‑grit sandpaper to smooth out any burrs.
III. Usage Instructions
1. Display Applications: This antique display shelf is ideal for showcasing small ornaments, tea pets, miniature potted plants, and other delicate items—each compartment can be customized to suit the size and shape of your chosen objects;
2. Placement Considerations: The shelf can be placed directly on tables or cabinets, but avoid loading it with excessively heavy items (we recommend limiting each compartment to a maximum weight of 200 g).
