Northern Song Dynasty Ding Kiln White-Glazed Incense Burner

This incense burner stands 13 cm tall with a mouth diameter of 13 cm. Its elegant and dignified form makes it a rare and exquisite piece among Northern Song Buddhist ritual vessels.

The entire piece is adorned with Ding Kiln’s signature white glaze—smooth and lustrous like solidified fat, with ivory‑toned highlights where the glaze pools. The body is dense yet finely textured, while the thin, even walls reveal masterful wheel‑turning craftsmanship.

The burner’s contours flow seamlessly, with a lotus‑petal–like flaring rim that gracefully curves outward. The rounded, full belly transitions smoothly into a slender, slightly splayed foot, perfectly capturing the understated elegance characteristic of Song dynasty ceramics.
