Universal Spool Holder – Adjustable, Strong, and Compact

Hello everyone!
On my original Centauri Carbon spool holder, I needed to mount a deeper spool of filament — but it simply didn’t fit. So I decided to design my own.

And because I like a good challenge, I made sure this holder can handle a wide range of spool sizes — from small 250 g cardboard spools all the way up to large 2 kg ones. Don’t worry, it holds them all securely!

Another goal was strength and durability, so the print orientation of each part was carefully chosen to provide maximum load capacity.
I also wanted something I could use both on the printer and inside a storage cabinet, and that wouldn’t get in the way when not in use. That’s why this holder is quickly detachable and easily swappable for other versions.

To make it even better, the design supports 608ZZ bearings, hidden neatly inside the roller for smooth rotation.
No bearings? No problem! Just use the Basic set and add a little grease to the pegs — the spool will spin smoothly enough.
Prefer a completely solid, non-rotating setup? Simply print the Solid version instead.

I created an add-on to my FNT Spool holder - I added a large disk onto which the holder slides. Thanks to this, the problem with the filament spool touching the printer body and ruining the color on the side of the printer when moving was also solved.

If you already have the holder made, just print the disc and the Centauri_Plate_Slim_ForDisc part.

Printing tips and materials:
All parts can be printed in PLA, but if your printer generates a lot of heat, the holder may deform over time.
For best durability, print at least the Plate and Protection disc (the part that slides into the printer) in PETG.
And if you want the smoothest rotation possible, consider printing the Roller from rigid TPU — Bambu TPU for AMS (blue roller) works perfectly!

The blue roller is made of hard TPU for AMS, the white one is made of PLA.

The complete Spool Holder lineup will feature intercompatible versions for different mounting styles — side-mounted, printer-mounted (like on the Centauri Carbon), and even a desktop version.
You’ll be able to choose the holder length according to your filament spool — from 50 mm up to 125 mm.
There will even be a dual holder for 2 × 73 mm spools.
