The Glove Box Hook - Universal 

Intro 

My car is pretty compact, and the glove book does not have any sort of hanging or hooking port for laptop bag, backpack or even grocery bag, not even a place for the lady handbag. After searching for a while, there are many option, however, some require glueing the hook to the glove box lid, some would make modification to the car (screw / clip), I don't think it would need to be there all the time, only when you have something need to be hang on passenger seat. 

So I think of using the flexibility of PETG (thank to many 1st layer z-offset testings) to create a simple hook that will latch to the lid of the glove book, creating a temporary hook that user can easily remove when not in use, which can slide to left - center - right to not bother the passenger. The ladies love it when they have something to hang their handbag in front of them. 

Version

Version Alpha : I first tested it with 0.2 layer height for the main “flex” part, but it does not hold the hook well. Also, the hook is too narrow and the bag was slipped easily when the car bumping on the road too much. I try no support but the bottom does not look great, I think if you dialed in the setting for bridging and flow, it would be better. But for the ease of mind, I'm happy with a few tree supports. 

Version Beta : Increase layer height to 0.4, reducing the hook height make the grip much better to heavier load. 

Printing tip 

I use PETG for this and tested it with a 5 little water bottle, hold up pretty well even when I bump it up and down. 

I've not tested it other filament, so any suggestion or recommendation is appreciated. 

Usage

Straight forward, open the lid of glove box, put in the hook top tab, it will latch to the glove box top compartment, close the glove box lid and it will be secure. You can just throw it in the glove box after use without ruining your car interior.

As the hook is quite wide on 90 degree angle, so a little tree support is needed, and I would suggest turning on “On build plate only” as the flex bottom layers is only 0.4mm, we don't want the tree support bottom to leave dent / tear on the load bearing surface.
