Alf is an American comedy television series that ran from 1986 to 1990 and was created by puppeteer Paul Fusco. The series consists of 102 episodes and a television film. The series revolves around an extraterrestrial being named Alf (a life-size puppet operated by Paul Fusco himself), who is taken in by an American family, played by live actors

The series was a great success in the United States and then an even greater success in many European countries, such as Poland and Germany. In Germany, the series was so popular that the TV movie was shown in cinemas there under the title Alf der Film. In the Netherlands, the complete series was originally broadcast between 1986 and 1990 by the TROS on Nederland 2, with reruns later by the commercial channels RTL 5 and Veronica. All four seasons were released on DVD in the Netherlands in 2009/2010
