3D Printing Recommendations
- Printer Type: Resin (SLA/DLP/LCD) is highly recommended to capture the fine details of the eyes, teeth, and eyestalks. An FDM printer can be used, but quality may vary.
- Material: Standard Photopolymer Resin is ideal for miniatures. For increased durability, a blend of standard and flexible resin can be used.
- Layer Height: For high detail, a layer height of 0.03mm to 0.05mm is recommended.
- Supports: Medium to heavy supports will be necessary, particularly under the chin, eyestalks, and the base of the model to prevent warping and ensure a clean print.
- Orientation: Print the model at a slight angle (e.g., 30 degrees) to reduce layer lines on key surfaces and allow for easier support removal.
- Post-Processing:
- Wash: Clean the printed model in Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) to remove uncured resin.
- Cure: Place the model under a UV light source to fully harden the resin.
- Finishing: Carefully remove supports and sand any remaining marks. The model is now ready for priming and painting.
