I’ve been pushing myself to explore more themed designs, especially ones tied to cultural celebrations. This project helped me practice balancing raised details on both sides, refining circular layouts, and keeping everything printable while still feeling like a polished keepsake. It also let me experiment with how far I can push detail without needing heavy supports.
Printing Notes:
• Prints best upright to keep both faces crisp
• Supports required (tree or organic supports recommended)
• Slowing the first layer helps the base grip firmly
• Works well in PLA, PLA+, or resin
• Lower wall speeds improve the clarity of the raised text and symbols
• If you want a premium look, try printing in silk gold or metallic filaments
Tips:
If you want to turn this into a pendant or bag charm, add a small loop at the top and scale it to your preferred size. For a display piece, you can also design a simple stand or coin holder so both sides remain visible. Painting the raised details or using a contrasting filament can make the 馬 character and horse head stand out even more.
Personal Note:
I’m still learning and experimenting with new styles, especially symbolic and double‑sided designs, so feedback is always welcome. Hope you enjoy this Year‑of‑the‑Horse medallion as much as I enjoyed creating it.
