This is my “Wisdom” series—the Wisdom Shoebill.

The Shoebill inhabits the vast wetlands of the Republic of Sudan and Zambia in eastern tropical Africa, typically favoring waterside areas rich in aquatic vegetation such as reeds. Shoebills usually live solitary or in pairs and are strictly nocturnal. During the day, they hide among grasses and reeds, emerging only at dusk to forage, their bodies concealed in dense riparian vegetation as they patiently wait for prey like baby crocodiles, softshell turtles, catfish, frogs, and water snakes. During the dry season, when the swamps dry up, they use their beaks to dig through the mud and feed on lungfish that have burrowed underground. In flight, their posture resembles that of a heron or pelican, with their head and neck curved into a “Z” shape.
The “Buckbeak” from the Harry Potter series was inspired by the Shoebill. Due to its comical and endearing appearance, the Shoebill has gained immense popularity online and is affectionately known as the “motionless bird.”

This model makes a delightful desk ornament; when work isn’t going well, when your boss comes up with an absurd request, or when your computer crashes, simply gazing at its wise expression can help calm your nerves. It can also serve as a decorative piece on a family display shelf, adding emotional warmth and charm to the home environment.
