Relics of ritual vessels dating back to the Shang and Zhou dynasties

In 2004, a large cache of bronze artifacts was unearthed at the Hengshui Cemetery in Jiang County, Shanxi Province. The inscriptions on these artifacts confirm that this site served as the burial ground of the Peng State. The tombs of Duke Peng and his consort have been vividly brought back to light for the world to see. The site was named one of the Top Ten Archaeological Discoveries in China in 2005. The Peng State Cemetery has yielded an extraordinary number of high‑ranked artifacts of immense historical and cultural value—among them, the Phoenix‑and‑Bird‑Pattern Zun vessel.
