Derivative Busts of the Statue of Zeus at Olympia: The Statue of Zeus at Olympia, created around 435 BC by the renowned ancient Greek sculptor Phidias, was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Although the original statue has been lost to history, based on ancient descriptions, Zeus is depicted seated on a lavishly adorned cedar throne, holding the goddess of victory, Nike, in his right hand and a scepter in his left, upon which an eagle perches. In later centuries, numerous busts were crafted inspired by this iconic image, capturing Zeus’s majestic countenance, along with his distinctive curly hair and flowing beard.
