This is a 镂空 relief sculpture themed on the Buddha, where Buddhist cultural motifs are exquisitely blended with modern relief and openwork techniques, seamlessly capturing both solemnity and artistic beauty.
This is a seated Buddha statue in the lotus posture, with a serene expression, eyes gently closed, and a faint, compassionate smile playing on the lips. The Buddha’s ushnisha rises high above the head, draped in monastic robes whose flowing, natural folds convey a sense of grace. With hands in the meditation mudra, the statue exudes an air of dignified composure and profound spiritual tranquility, radiating a sense of peace and boundless compassion.
Surrounding the Buddha statue is a symmetrical, openwork relief decoration, featuring a petal-shaped outer frame adorned with intricate scrolling foliage, beaded patterns, or auspicious Buddhist motifs. These motifs are brought to life through a sophisticated combined technique of openwork and relief carving—the outer frame is rendered in raised relief, while the intricate inner designs are meticulously carved as openwork, creating a visual effect of “solid exterior, hollow interior, layered depth.” This approach not only enhances the sacred aura of the Buddha statue but also elevates the craftsmanship to new heights of refinement and elegance.
