🦁 Guardian Lions of Pairi Daiza — The Middle Kingdom 🇨🇳

These two majestic sculptures are the Chinese Guardian Lions, also known as Fu Lions (shíshī, 石獅).
They proudly stand at the entrance of the Chinese Temple in Pairi Daiza, within the Middle Kingdom, symbolizing protection, strength, and benevolent power.

Traditionally placed in pairs, they represent the balance of yin and yang:

• The male lion, on the right when entering, rests his paw on a decorated sphere, symbolizing the world he guards.
• The female lion, on the left, gently holds a lion cub under her paw, representing life and family protection.

Together, they embody strength and compassion, standing as eternal protectors that ward off evil spirits and bring harmony, peace, and prosperity to the sacred places they guard.
