I'm a fan of secret stash models, where a hidden compartment is built into a realistic soda can or rock or whatever. However, I find that many of those models aren't very functional. They're often either obviously fake, or just plain conspicuous.

If the goal is to successfully hide a key or a bit of spare cash, you'd want a secret stash that:

• doesn't stand out
• can be "hidden in plain sight" without raising any eyebrows
• doesn't replicate any desirable (aka stealable) objects

With all of that in mind, I present the Secret Stash Toilet Brush Stand!

I believe that this design addresses all of my issues with other secret stash models. If placed behind your toilet, it won't grab most people's attention despite being out in the open. And if your house is robbed, or if the pest control guys snag a few of your belongings while they're working in your unoccupied unit (yes that has actually happened to me), they're more likely to steal a few of your Nintendo Switch games than a dirty toilet brush (again, that has actually happened to me, it was Luigi's Mansion 3 and Tropical Freeze).

PRINTING TIPS:

• Make sure you print on a CLEAN PLATE. Yes this is a bit of a cliche. But this model is comprised of two fairly large pieces, and both pieces print without any brim or supports. A clean plate pretty much guarantees a successful print
• Print each piece in a different color. This helps disguise the fact that they're two different pieces sitting on top of eachother (toilet brush stands are often either white or grey, with a black/grey base)

NOTES/TIPS:

• THIS MODEL IS NOT INTENDED TO FUNCTION AS AN ACTUAL TOILET BRUSH STAND
• The diameter of the secret compartment is 6 inches, and it's about 1 inch tall
• I was originally going to make the pieces twist together (like a jar of peanut butter), but since they are so wide, untwisting them was very awkward. So instead, the top piece simply sits on the bottom one. So to be clear, they are not designed to tightly lock together. Please keep this in mind before printing
• I highly recommend throwing a couple silica gel packs in the compartment, especially if you keep any cash or paper documents in there
• To complete the illusion (and also because it's funny), consider adding a toilet brush or even a small plunger to the print!
