The Shanghai Oriental Pearl Tower, also known as the Oriental Pearl Radio & TV Tower—commonly referred to as “Oriental Pearl”—is located at No. 1 Century Avenue, Lujiazui New Area, Pudong District, Shanghai. Situated along the banks of the Huangpu River, it is flanked by the modern skyscrapers of the Lujiazui business district and beautifully complements the historic Bund’s eclectic mix of international architectural styles across the river. Construction began on July 30, 1991, and the tower was completed and officially opened to the public on October 1, 1994. Today, it stands as one of Shanghai’s most iconic landmarks, seamlessly integrating urban sightseeing, trendy dining and shopping, entertainment venues, historical exhibitions, river cruises, convention and exhibition services, as well as radio and television broadcasting into a single, multifunctional complex.
