I wanted to organize my ropes so I created this modular spool system with variable sizes of drum lengths and spool diameters.

The parts should fit together tightly using press fit connection, so you may need a hammer to convince the parts together. For the larger spool and drum sizes you may want to add a little glue.

The different sizes of the drums and spool can be mixed and matched. They all use the same plug to mount them together.

In the plug is a 6mm hexagonal hole which you can use to insert a 6mm hex bit and use an electric screwdriver/drill to wind the spool.

I also added a small clip based on the famous Jayo/Sunlu filament clip to hold the end of the rope to the spool.

Sizes

The available sizes at this moment are listed below (I may add more in the future). For the outer rings I created a simple 8 spoke version as well as a octagon spoke version, because why not.

Outer rings

• 50mm radius normal spoke
• 50mm radius octagon spoke
• 75mm radius normal spoke
• 75mm radius octagon spoke

Drums

• 12mm length
• 24mm length
• 36mm length
• 48mm length

Print instructions

I printed them in PETG using standard 0.4mm nozzle and 0.2mm layer height. I used 2 outer walls, if you want more strength you may increase that, but I find them strong enough.

Print two outer rings of the desired diameter and one drum of the desired length. You will need two plugs to assemble them together.
