Pixel pup - Break

Celebrate the daily comedy of urban dog walks with Pixel Pup - Break, a voxelized homage to one of the most recognizable shapes in contemporary art. The Pup carries the unmistakable silhouette of a balloon-twisted dog, caught mid-break at a chunky red fire hydrant with a small pixel mess on the ground for company. The whole scene reads like a cutscene of a contemporary art piece taking its lunch break.

Design & Concept

I designed Pixel Pup - Break as the kind of piece that argues with itself. The balloon-dog silhouette is one of the most expensive and most photographed shapes of the last fifty years, a glossy art-world icon that asks to be taken seriously. Pixelating it and dropping it next to a fire hydrant pulls it back down to earth, to the level of every actual dog you have ever seen on a city corner. The fire hydrant and the tiny pixel mess on the ground are not props, they are the whole punchline.

•    Nozzle: 0.4mm.
•    Layer Height: 0.2mm.
•    Walls / Perimeters: 2-3.
•    Infill: 10-15% Gyroid.
•    Supports: Not required. The voxel geometry self-supports through stair-stepping.

Pixel Mess

•    Material: PLA in brown or any earthy tone for the visual punchline. Skip the print if you want a cleaner display.
•    Nozzle: 0.4mm.
•    Layer Height: 0.2mm.
•    Walls / Perimeters: 2.
•    Infill: 100%.
•    Supports: required.
