Hello Again, vast interconnected network of strangers!
I wanted to have a fun desk fidget that was also aesthetically pleasing, and this is what I ended up landing on! It is fully printable, no screws or bearings required. (Though some grease helps.)
Everything prints in an afternoon in under 200g of filament, and makes a great decoration or gift.
Assembly Instructions:
Step 1. Install rails onto the base platform. Set onto flat surface to push everything until it’s flush. | |
Step 2. Insert rotation pin idler onto the base, install small rail spacers for the helix platform. | |
Step 3. Install helix platform as pictured, installing large rail spacers for the lid afterwards. | |
Step 4. Install helix one block at a time until all 17 blocks are installed. Some light sanding may be required to get the exact spacing correct. | |
Step 5. Once you are happy with how everything moves, install pins into the top left and right rail to secure the assembly. You may need to push them in using a flat surface if the printer tolerances are bad. |
