The design inspiration for Wuzhishan draws from the iconic image in “Journey to the West” of the Buddha Shakyamuni subduing Sun Wukong. I’ve transformed the mythical giant hand into a stark, mountainous sculpture, using a deep green patina to evoke the weighty, ancient aesthetic of traditional artifacts. The intricate texture of the palm seamlessly blends with the undulating contours of the mountains, while the cloud motifs carved into the base further enhance the mythic atmosphere. This piece is both a contemporary reinterpretation of classical mythology and a subtle nod to the Eastern philosophy of “mountains upon mountains, rivers upon rivers.” Placed on a desk, it feels like a miniature hidden realm—allowing you to sense the profound weight of legend within the reach of your fingertips.
