This 3D model represents a 9 mm Lefaucheux pinfire cartridge, an early self-contained metallic round where bullet, black powder and primer are combined in a single case rather than in separate paper charges and percussion caps.
A small transverse pin protruding from the case wall drives into the internal primer when struck by the hammer, which was a key step in the transition from loose loading to modern cartridge ammunition and made revolvers and pepperboxes much faster and safer to use.
The model follows authentic historical dimensions of the 9 mm Lefaucheux cartridge so it works well as a display piece, teaching aid or prop in dioramas focused on mid‑19th‑century European firearms.
For printing, the firing pin itself is not part of the mesh: simply cut a 10 mm piece of 1.75 mm filament, insert it into the prepared hole and glue it in place to complete the dummy round.
The cartridge body is optimized for easy FDM printing in PETG, PLA or ASA, with no supports and no brim required for a clean result on most well‑tuned printers.
Download the model, print your own historical dummy cartridge and, if you like it, please share it, leave a rating and give it a boost so other enthusiasts and collectors can discover it as well.
If you need different dimensions (overall length, bullet profile, rim diameter, pin angle, etc.) for a specific revolver, replica or display, just write your required values in the comments and a custom version can be prepared.
Also feel free to ask for other cartridges or parts you would like to see modeled (other pinfire calibers, early rimfire or decorative dummy ammo), and future designs can grow into a small printable historical ammo collection.
