🇫🇷 Description

This sculpture is a reproduction of the artwork attributed to Banksy, which appeared in London at the end of April 2026 at Waterloo Place, in the historic Westminster district. Installed overnight on April 29 without announcement, it immediately drew attention for how seamlessly it blended into the surrounding classical monuments.

The statue depicts a suited man striding forward while holding a flag. The fabric, blown by the wind, fully covers his face, preventing him from seeing where he is going. Despite this, he continues walking, even stepping beyond the edge of the plinth as if about to fall into the void.

The message is powerful and typical of Banksy’s work. The piece is widely interpreted as a critique of nationalism and blind patriotism: the flag, meant to symbolize identity and pride, becomes an obstacle that removes vision and critical thinking.
Instead of guiding, it blinds. The confident forward motion turns into something dangerous and irrational.

Its location amplifies this meaning. Waterloo Place is surrounded by monuments celebrating British imperial and military history. By inserting this contemporary figure into such a symbolic environment, Banksy creates a direct dialogue between official history and critical modern commentary.

Like many of his works, the installation itself was part of the statement: placed overnight, later confirmed via social media, blending performance, anonymity, and political expression.

For this reproduction, I aimed to stay as faithful as possible to the original proportions, volumes, and overall dynamics, using multiple visual references. The goal was to capture that precise moment of imbalance — a figure moving forward without seeing — while making subtle adjustments to ensure the model remains coherent, stable, and suitable for 3D printing.
