The Relics of the Rune Forge: The Obsidian Vanguard

Every guild hall needs its guardian. Before the great walls could be raised, the master craftsman forged the first sentinel to watch over the cold nights. From raw obsidian stone and the mixed essence of two colliding storms, silver and bronze, he brought to life: The Obsidian Vanguard.

He is the watcher on the wall, the alpha of the stonework pack, and the eternal guardian of those who summon him.

 

My Print Settings:

  • Layer height: 0.16 mm
  • Material: Matte black PLA
  • Supports: Tree supports

About the Model & Painting: This wolf head is a beast of a model. While it looks epic in raw matte black, it truly goes into 'Boss Fight Mode' with a little bit of effort.

To achieve the look shown in the photos, I used a matte black base and finished it with a two tone dry brush technique.

  1. Heavy Silver Dry Brush: First, I went over the fur with a heavy silver dry brush to bring out all the edges.
  2. Light Bronze Highlights: Finally, I added a light bronze layer on top of the silver.

This creates a stunning alloy effect, where the fur seems to catch the light with both cold steel and warm bronze. Ideal for gaming rooms, workshops, or any place where guests walk in and immediately say: "Woah... WHAT is THAT?!" 🐺⚡
