Full Six-Dot 3D-Printed Dice Model Description

I. Inspiration

The inspiration for this full six-dot dice comes from the playful “gimmick” props popular in the board-game community, as well as the widespread meme-driven demand for “maximum good luck.” Traditional dice have faces numbered 1 through 6, but I deliberately designed all six sides to show a 6, so no matter how you roll it, it’s always a “grand slam.” Whether used as a fun party prop for group games or as a “good-luck ornament” on the table, it’s highly meme-worthy—and makes an excellent, quirky little 3D-printed item to sell.

II. Printing Requirements

1. Core Print Parameters

  • Material Selection: White PLA is the preferred choice, with a print temperature of 195–210°C and a heated bed at 60°C. It offers good flow and resists warping, making it easy for beginners to achieve a successful first print. For greater durability and impact resistance, consider switching to PETG, which requires a print temperature of 230–245°C and a heated bed at 80°C—ideal for everyday handling without breaking easily.

  • Layer Height: A 0.2 mm layer height is the golden standard, balancing fine detail and smooth edges for each dot while also maintaining a reasonable print speed. For an even more refined finish, use 0.15 mm; although printing will take slightly longer, the surface will be noticeably smoother.

  • Wall Thickness & Filling: Set the wall thickness at 1.2–1.5 mm (3–4 wall layers), and a fill density of 20–30% is fully sufficient. Since the dice itself doesn’t experience much stress, these settings ensure structural strength while minimizing material usage and reducing print time.

  • Support Structures: No supports are needed at all! All the dot cavities are self-supporting, so you can simply print the model flat on the build plate, avoiding support remnants that could compromise the flatness and aesthetic appeal of the dots.

  • Print Speed: Use an outer-wall speed of 20–30 mm/s and a fill speed of 50–60 mm/s to effectively reduce layer lines and produce a smoother surface.

2. Detail Optimization Tips

  • For maximum visual appeal, print the dice in white PLA, then use a black marker to color the dots, followed by a coat of clear protective varnish. The final texture will be virtually indistinguishable from commercially available professional dice.

  • After printing, gently sand the surface with 2000-grit sandpaper to smooth out any remaining layer lines, resulting in a much more polished feel.

III. Assembly Instructions

This is a single-part, one-piece model, requiring no assembly whatsoever! Once printing is complete, only a few simple post-processing steps are needed before it’s ready to use:

  1. Use a small knife to carefully remove any residual filament from the print base (if present).

  2. Sand the surface to smooth out layer lines and burrs, especially around the edges of the dot cavities, to prevent scratching your hands.

  3. (Optional) Color the dots and apply a protective varnish to enhance appearance and durability.

IV. Additional Tips

  • The model size can be freely scaled: By default, it’s printed at the standard 16 mm dice size, but you can also enlarge it to 25 mm for a desktop ornament, or shrink it down to 10 mm for keychains or pendants—each size prints reliably.

  • Be sure to level the print bed before starting, otherwise the six faces of the dice may be uneven, affecting the rolling experience.

  • This dice is particularly well-suited for “good-luck-themed” merchandise—for example, pairing it with slogans like “Pass Every Exam” or “Overflowing Good Luck”—and selling it on platforms like Douyin and Xiaohongshu, where it’s very popular among young people.

  • You can also create different color variations, such as transparent PLA or colored PLA, to cater to diverse user preferences.
