This is a mini handheld abacus that faithfully replicates the structure and functionality of the traditional abacus, while also combining creative craftsmanship with practical, hands-on play.

I. Basic Specifications and Structure

- Bead Configuration: The complete abacus features 42 beads, adhering to the classic “two above, five below” design: two columns on the left (each with two upper beads and five lower beads) and five columns on the right (each with two upper beads and five lower beads), for a total of seven columns. This configuration fully supports addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division—classic abacus calculations—while accurately reproducing the traditional abacus’s computational principles. Both the abacus frame and the beads are manufactured using either 3D-printed monolithic molding or modular assembly techniques.
- Structural Details: Metal rods are used to secure the beads, ensuring smooth, snag-free sliding; the frame incorporates a dual-compartment partition design, with a central crossbar separating the upper and lower beads. This not only aligns with traditional abacus operating habits but also makes the overall form more compact and portable.
The finished product is small and lightweight, easily fitting in the palm of your hand. It serves as a desktop ornament and stress-relief toy, as well as a creative stationery item and cultural-creative gift. Although it is a 3D-printed cultural-art product, it fully retains the traditional abacus’s practical computational functions, making it suitable for abacus practice and instructional demonstrations, as well as a creative medium for preserving intangible cultural heritage. Thanks to the 3D-printing manufacturing process, dimensions, color schemes, and structural details can be flexibly customized to meet personalized design needs, making it ideal for craft enthusiasts and cultural-designers to engage in secondary creation. Suitable applications include teaching aids and exhibition pieces for abacus instruction and intangible-cultural-heritage displays, as well as desktop stress-relief toys.
