The Yellow Crane Tower is located in Wuchang District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, perched atop Snake Mountain and overlooking the mighty Yangtze River—a true landmark of Wuhan. Construction began in the second year of Huangwu in the Three Kingdoms period (223 AD), and the tower has undergone numerous renovations over the centuries. The current structure is modeled after the “Tongzhi Tower” of the Qing Dynasty and was rebuilt in 1985. It gained worldwide fame thanks to the poem “Yellow Crane Tower,” composed by Tang Dynasty poet Cui Hao upon his ascent of the tower.
