AskHand is a small 3D-printable mechanical device designed to help students signal that they would like to ask a question without having to raise their hand directly.

The principle is simple: when not in use, the hand remains flat on the desk. Pressing the mechanism located at the base allows the hand to rise into an upright position, creating a clear visual signal that can easily be noticed by the teacher.

The model is particularly suitable for shy students or those who prefer a more discreet way of asking to speak.

 

Assembly:

The object consists of several parts that are printed separately and then assembled using press-fit connections. Glue is therefore not necessarily required.

The parts can either be:

  • simply press-fitted together, allowing the object to be easily disassembled for storage or to replace individual parts;
  • permanently glued together if you prefer a stronger and more durable assembly.

The hand fits onto the rod, while the lower end of the rod attaches to the articulated mechanism in the base. Once assembled, make sure the joint remains loose enough to allow the hand to move easily from the flat position to the upright position.

 

 Printing tip: Before permanently gluing the parts together, perform a test assembly of all components to check the fit and tolerances, as these may vary slightly depending on your 3D printer's accuracy and settings.
