This fully 3D-printed folding fan features a lithophane of Mount Rushmore that comes to life when held up to the light. Designed with functionality in mind, the fan opens and closes just like a traditional folding fan while showcasing the iconic monument in a unique way.

Unlike many folding fan designs that rely on metal pins or hardware, this model is assembled entirely from printed components. The fan blades use locking grooves and tabs to hold the lithophane panels securely in place, while a printed threaded rod and connector form the pivot mechanism that allows the fan to open and close smoothly.

Print Notes:

• PETG or a higher-temperature material is recommended, as the fan is likely to be used in warm environments and may be left in a vehicle.
• Several post heights are included. During testing, I found that different materials and print settings can affect the fit of the connector.
• Depending on your printer, material, and personal preference, you may prefer a taller or shorter connector to make the fan open more loosely or more tightly.
• Light-colored filament is recommended for the lithophane panels to achieve the best image quality.
• Print all parts in the supplied orientation for the best fit and operation.
