Mustang Mach-E Center Console Cover (Cat-Proof Button Guard)

My cat's favorite place to ride is stretched across the center console of my 2022 Mustang Mach-E. Unfortunately, that's also where Ford put the hazard switch, parking sensor button, and electronic parking brake. While the car safely ignores most accidental presses while driving, it still displays constant warnings and messages whenever an inquisitive paw finds a button.

This cover snaps over the center console to prevent accidental button presses while still allowing easy removal whenever you want full access to the controls.

Design Process

Rather than taking dozens of measurements and going through multiple print-and-test iterations, I scanned the center console with a Creality Raptor 3D scanner. Although the scan wasn't suitable for directly generating the model, it provided highly accurate reference geometry that I could sketch over in CAD.

The result was a part that fit perfectly on the very first print—no measuring, no tweaking, and no redesigns required. It was a great demonstration of how useful 3D scanning can be as a design reference, even when the scan itself isn't clean enough for direct modeling.
