The printed version of the spinning top always stops after only a short while because it’s too lightweight. Therefore, I designed a weighted top.

I’ve created two types of weighted tops.

The first type uses six steel balls as weights. Each ball has a diameter of 9.52 mm, and six are required. (These steel balls are the same size as those used in marble arcade games available at local stores, so they’re universally compatible.)

The second type uses five‑cent coins for weighting. Both newer and older versions of the coin work; five coins are needed.

For both designs, simply secure the weights with glue on the top and bottom once they’re attached.

I’ve uniquely invented a top‑release mechanism featuring gear transmission. It allows effortless release—so even beginners can easily press to let the top spin. You can make this device using just a rubber band. With this release tool, my coin‑weighted tops have been able to spin continuously for over three minutes during testing.

The battle platform features a sloped log bridge design. Be sure to print according to the slicing orientation I provided; otherwise, visible layer lines may interfere with the top’s movement.
