Basic Overview
Located on the Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, England, UK (about 130 kilometers from London); construction began around 3100 BCE and continued in multiple phases until approximately 1600 BCE (spanning the Late Neolithic to the Early Bronze Age); in 1986, it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List alongside sites such as the Avebury Stone Circle, and is managed by English Heritage.
