When using a 3D printer, it’s common to load multiple materials—each in different colors or material types—depending on the printing requirements. However, having too many materials stored and used at once can be quite cumbersome: they take up valuable space, and there’s always the risk that their performance may degrade over time.

This got me thinking about creating a material tray splitter that converts “1 into 2” for leftover filament—so two spools can be consolidated into one, and eight spools can be reduced to four, neatly fitting into our filament storage box. If you’re in need of this kind of solution, give it a try!
